8 Minute Madness
Hi guys!
There are so many awesome things about the “Eight Minute Madness Festival.” First and foremost is the madness of it all. it really is mad. And I wouldn’t be surprised if all the participants were a little mad too.
It’s a bunch of short plays where two or three or four actors get to do their thing for about eight, maybe ten minutes at a time. The festival takes place at the Turtleshell Theater, a small space in a mad building (with two insane elevators), right next to Times Square. Times Square is where the Ripley’s Museum is. I really want to go there. Is anyone listening?
So, there’s this crazy place, the mad atmosphere, but the best thing is the people. Let me tell you about them. John is the guy in charge. John is super funny and has been hosting these plays for a long time. He’s a man of experience and knows what he wants. He hosts these plays not for money, but out of love.
Another person I like is Dalton. Dalton needs a lot of “tattoos,” for his character, stuff like a storm-cloud and a fiery skull… guess who draws them, me. Dalton also plays guitar like me. We talk about it sometimes, but not a lot.
Then there’s Jake. He plays a calm guy in my play, but gets killed at the end of it. He’s a real life video game freak and has a PSP and DS in his backpack at all times.
Rebecca is a funny girl who is in three plays! One of them is mine. She plays the a spy, a chicken, a lab technician, and a sister.
My play is so cool! I play a spy who flips, rolls, makes bird-calls and jokes. The crowd always laughs (like that wouldn’t happen when I’m on). It’s not boring at all. How can something be boring when it’s mad?

Even when I wait around, it’s fun. I hang out with all my friends and pester the stage manager. The only hard part is changing costumes in eight minutes. One thing I have to do is whistle off stage and shout “shut-up.” Lucky me, my dad already taught that line! That might be one of my favorite parts of the day. All in all, “Turtleshell” is awesome.
We’ve already done previews, and the premier is tomorrow night, so fly in and check it out:

The WAT-AAH! Boy – Part 2
Are you guys ready for part 2! Okay! So….
One day later, he says: “Son, I heard from your agent again, and I was wrong, you didn’t actually get the job… they’re only thinking of you doing the job, and meant to put you on hold.” I was sad. “Are you sure?” I said. Dad nodded. Then I said goodnight and went to bed.
The next day when I came home from school, my dad came over with a bound in his step. “I have some good news…. this time you really got the job!” Dad said. “Yes!” I yelled. I was so happy.
A couple of days later I went in for the job. It was in a place called: “The Sound Lounge.” There, I met three people. There were two men and one lady. They were really nice, and treated me like a star.
They told me how to say my lines and what to do. They said I did a great job and asked me how many voice-overs I have done. I can’t lie; I told them this was my first one ever. They were so surprised – you should have seen their faces!
In total, I did six scripts and 55 takes! They were all about WAT-AAH!, but also about different things: art, spelling, soccer, pushups, dancing and double-jointed people.
It was really fun, and I told my dad I would have done it for free.
THE END
